Hohner Organette
This is a fascinating instrument that is in a class called the blow accordions. It is somewhat of a cross between a harmonica and an accordion. Manufactured by Honer in the early 1900s, it has two reed blocks with zinc plates mounted on wood and divided holes. It is made to play chords as well as single notes and has a really sweet sound that is somewhat similar to a clarinet. I completely disassembled it, cleaned and repaired or restored each part. Where possible, the individual parts were re-installed with stainless steel screws into threaded standoffs or nuts. The Organette was most most likely a very leaky instrument and I’m betting only tuba players could get more than a few bars into a song. This one has been tightened up considerably.
